This is the first Coast Garter Snake that I ever saw at Rockville Hills Regional Park. He quickly slithered across the trail, and then took this half-standing pose, as if he couldn't be seen if he didn't move! It was great for photos!
This garter snake did his own version of if-I-stay-still-you-can't-see-me.
A baby that was not more than 18 inches long!
Notice the bright red on the sides. Coast Garter Snakes have varying amounts of red on them.
